This agile coach certification of approximately 40 day effort, over 6 months or 1 year duration, will provide the student with basic knowledge about Agile, Lean & systems thinking, which is essential to act as an Agile coach. The course consists of both theory and practical experience supported by mentoring from an experienced agile coach.


In more detail the course consist of the following elements:

  • 12 books will be studied in-depth (21 day effort)
  • 12 (monthly) tests covering the theoretical material (2 day effort).
  • 10 Classroom sessions, where the student will present material and coach exercises and be evaluated on their performance (10 day effort)
  • 1 exam where the student will present a case where they implemented change in the organisation. (1 day effort)
  • 4 hours monthly coaching by an experienced agile coach (6 day effort)

The following are ideal candidate characteristics:

  • Experienced (5+ years) in several (minimum 3) of the following areas:  
    • People management  
    • Facilitation
    • Coaching
    • Project management
    • Process development
    • Agile development
    • Software development
  • Certified Scrum master / Advanced scrum master
  • 2+ Years total experience in minimum 2 different agile teams (Scrum 7 Kanban)
  • A powerful drive to be on the forefront of change initiatives, and a balanced personality with excellent communication, networking and influential skills
  • Ability to be empathetic with both highly skilled technical specialists, over middle managers to high level executives. A default approach of attempting to see problems from many different perspectives and a strong curiosity and ability to inquire about why different people arrive at different conclusions given the same data/experiences.

After this course, you should be able to:

  • Act as an Agile/Lean change agent from team to the enterprise level
  • Analyse organisations and offer relevant next steps on the journey
  • Effectively Coach Agile Scrum & Kanban teams
  • Coach developers, middle and high level managers in Agile & Lean thinking
  • Create lasting change which reduces time to market, increase productivity, workforce engagement and ability to adapt to changes
